Major scheme lined up for Birminghams Jewellery Quarter
A plan for almost 500 flats as well as a boutique hotel and a retail courtyard in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter has been unveiled.The Hockley Mills development, designed by Glancy Nicholls Architects, has been submitted to the city council for consideration by Black Swan Properties.The application relates to land on Pitsford Street, which is currently used for storage by Mr Tyre.As well as the 490 apartments and hotel there would be a new ticket office for the Jewellery Quarter Railway Station and the potential for the reuse of the Victorian Subway as a gym or for other commercial uses.A final decision is expected to be made by the council in the coming months.
